Responding to today’s Budget, Louis Willis, Director of the Invest in Britain campaign, said:
“While we welcome new funding for the National Wealth Fund, the Chancellor’s focus on defence is coming at the expense of the investment our public services and infrastructure so desperately need. This needs to change at next year’s Spending Review.”
“Security isn’t only about frigates and fighter jets. It’s affordable energy, public services that work and an economy that is resilient against shocks. Cutting back the plan to protect families from volatile gas markets leaves them more exposed, not less.”
“Britain needs a sustained rise in public investment across the board, not robbing Peter to pay Paul.”
